Client: United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS)
Sector: International development and humanitarian sector
Client challenge/opportunity:
At UNOPS, where employees deliver projects that change lives around the world, career growth and learning are critical to sustaining engagement and excellence.
UNOPS wanted to strengthen career development support as part of its High Performing Nationals (HPN) Programme. Spread across 19 countries and 6 regions, participants needed a scalable and inclusive way to build capability in career conversations, helping supervisors guide development while empowering employees to take ownership of their careers.
Solution delivered:
Antoinette’s approach combined insight, interaction, and practical tools to empower both supervisors and supervisees to have meaningful conversations about growth.
To build capability on both sides of the conversation, Antoinette delivered two interactive masterclasses — one for supervisors and one for supervisees — designed to create a shared language for career growth.
- Confident Career Conversations – for supervisors, introducing the Career Conversation Toolkit and techniques to structure meaningful conversations.
- Career Compass – for supervisees, using the Career Compass Workbook to help individuals reflect, define success, and prepare for career discussions.
Each masterclass was supported by materials in English, French and Spanish to ensure accessibility across regions.
Outcomes/results:
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with measurable improvements in confidence, frequency, and quality of career conversations across all regions.
- 67% of participants rated the career conversations masterclass among the most helpful parts of the HPN programme.
- 82% of supervisees reported an increase in career conversations with their supervisors.
- 92% felt more comfortable engaging in career conversations.
- Supervisors also benefited: 54% reported an increase in conversations, with 86% holding two or more career conversations after the training.
An overall satisfaction rate of 8.7/10 from participant feedback, with comments praising the interactive, practical tools and clarity of the sessions.
