In an organisation devoted to protecting Scotland’s natural heritage, NatureScot wanted to help its people nurture something else — their own growth.

NatureScot wanted to strengthen career development opportunities across its diverse workforce. The organisation recognised that helping staff reflect on their career journeys and identify future directions would improve engagement, retention, and performance. They needed a structured, accessible programme that would work across roles and career stages.

Antoinette delivered the Career Compass Masterclass, an interactive virtual workshop supported by the Career Compass Workbook and guided exercises. Through an interactive blend of teaching, reflection, and discussion, Antoinette guided participants to explore where they’ve been, where they’re heading, and what small steps will move them forward.

The session was really well received. One participant commented that it was the first time they’d spoken openly about their aspirations with colleagues — a small moment that captured the spirit of the day. Other positive outcomes included:

• High engagement: 90% of participants agreed the content was clear, high quality, and well presented.
• Positive impact: 71% rated themselves likely to apply the learning in their role.
• Cultural shift: Participants highlighted how valuable it was to step back, reflect, and discuss their career with colleagues, many meeting new people for the first time.
• Scalable learning: The masterclass has been used across the organisation, providing tools and language for ongoing career conversations.
